Bariatric surgery is becoming more common, but there is uncertainty about the bariatric care pathway and a lack of definition of the role of formal training in bariatric patient care.

Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery

Fellowship in Metabolic and bariatric surgery ( FMBS ) training program is a comprehensive one year clinical learning platform run in association with Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI) through its “Centre of Excellence :(COE) facility. The program provides an opportunity for the fellow to work closely with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team for work up and support of morbidly obese. The fellow spends at least half of the training period working with in this high-volume service, gaining at remendous experience with techniques to a wide variety of primary and revisional bariatric and metabolic surgeries, which uses various approaches including laparoscopy, single incision, robotics and endoscopy.

Fellowship in Bariatric Clinical Nutrition ( FBCN ) training program is a comprehensive three month clinical learning platform run in association with Apollo Medvarsity through our “Centre of Excellence (COE) facility. This fellowship intends to provide an overview of all the critical elements a Bariatric dietician must be aware of, as the dietician plays the key role in the nutritional management of the patients under going bariatric and metabolic surgery. This fellowship would provide comprehensive knowledge of pre-operative workup, types of procedures, medical weight loss,nutrition therapy for postoperative patients and long term follow up. Any candidate with a post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics will be eligible for fellowship.

Fellowship in Bariatric Surgical Nursing ( FBSN ) training program is a comprehensive three month clinical learning platform run in association with Apollo Medvarsity. throug hour “Centre of Excellence (COE) facility. The course intends to provide knowledge about the special nursing care to this highly sensitive population. Clinical training also involves effective assessment and management of bariatric patients.

Nurses will be knowledge able about expected outcomes of bariatric care, including long-term processes and life style changes that patients must participate in to sustain weight loss. Any candidate with under graduat enursing graduation and three years clinical experience will be eligible to take up the course.
