Bariatric surgery is becoming more common, but there is uncertainty about the bariatric care pathway. There are various studies that proved formal training and educated team plays a vital role in achieving the best of the weight loss outcome. BAROS@Apollo Institute of Bariatrics is pleased to lead from the front with a structured program to support bariatric training providing clinical learning in bariatric surgery, nutrition, nursing and behavioural counselling.
Fellowship in metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
FMBS training program is a comprehensive one year clinical learning platform run in association with Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India through our “Centre of Excellence facility. The program provides an opportunity for the fellow to work closely with our dedicated, multidisciplinary team. The fellow spends at least half of the training period working with our high-volume service, gaining tremendous experience with technique to a wide variety of primary and revisional bariatric and metabolic surgeries, which uses various approaches including laparoscopy, single incision, robotic surgery and endoscopy.

Bariatric surgery certification course
For those practicing surgeons who cant spare much time other than the weekends, we offer a 2-3 day observer ship certification course. Course includes didactic lectures, hands on dry lab training, clinical observer ship of 2 surgical cases, department rounds and mentorship beyond the course to set up your bariatric practice. Any candidate with post graduation in general surgery and two years laparoscopic experience or a super specialty degree holder will be eligible for the certificate course.

Observership in Bariatric Nutirtion
Bariatric Clinical Nutrition training program is a comphrensive month long clinical learning program which intends to provide an overview of all the critical role in the nutritional management of the patients undergoing bariatric and metabolic surgery. This oververship would provide comprehensive knowledge of pre-operative workup, types of procedures, medical weight loss, perioperative nutrition and long term follow up. Any candidate with a post graduate in nutrition and deitetics will be eligible for fellowship.
